Pathway to Effective Communication

Effective communication skills can be learned and honed. One path towards enhanced communication is knowledge about the sender (yourself) and the receiver. Different personality types vary in how they transmit and receive information. Knowledge of one’s preferences and that of the receiver can greatly improve understanding of how to communicate effectively.

This session will introduce one of many tools that enables more effective communication by understanding how people gather and process information.

About Speaker:

Julianne Bryan is a pioneer in the application of project management methodologies to scientific discovery environments. She stepped away from traditional scientific research and began practicing project management for drug discovery at Scriptgen Pharmaceuticals in 1996.

Julie moved to Memphis from Boston, in 2005, to create and direct a Project Management Office for drug discovery in the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She is President, and a charter member, of the St. Jude Toastmasters Club, invited speaker at industry conferences and leads workshops in the disciplines of project management, communication, and leadership.

Outside of work, she can be found on the ice, playing and coaching hockey with her three boys, Zack, Kenny and Bryan.

Note: 

The meeting is at St. Jude - MTC (Marlo Thomas Collaboration Center). The closest gate to MTC is AW Willis.  You should use the left lane and say you are here for PMI meeting.  Better place to park your vehicle is Garage 3, which is the garage to the left as you enter that gate.  Once you park and exit the garage toward the side you entered, you should see the Marlo Thomas Collaboration Center ahead to the left.
